Conversations on the Move’ is an interprofessional group program for people after stroke that combines an evidence-based exercise program, with supported conversation training to promote active social participation. This practical workshop will deliver skills needed to establish a program in your health service or community that can be run by rehab assistants or vocational staff overseen by any allied health professional. This workshop is suitable for occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, nurses or exercise physiologists.

Whether you're just starting out or wanting to refine existing approaches, this workshop will help you develop an actionable plan to improve delivery of patient-centred and evidence-based stroke care. Workshop presenters have varied experiences and expertise, including providing and receiving stroke rehabilitation, using client feedback to improve team performance and using quality improvement cycles to improve stroke rehabilitation service delivery.

This interactive workshop focuses on reinforcing core principles of stroke care through hands-on, team-based learning. Participants will engage in:

  • Code Stroke scenario to practice real-time emergency responses
  • Team-building workshops for Ischaemic and Haemorrhagic Stroke scenarios
  • A focus on fundamental nursing care within the stroke unit
  • Insights into embedding research and quality improvement into daily practice

The aim is to strengthen clinical confidence, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and improve outcomes through practical, back-to-basics learning.
