Friday, 17th October
Chairs: Simone Owen & Heidi Janssen

Yarning up After Stroke Group - led by Dr Reakeeta Smallwood, Simone Owen, Joe Miller, Rachel Peake and Dr Heidi Janssen

Reimagining FAST - led by Amy Thompson, Rickey Luland and Dr Heidi Lavis

People attending this workshop will privilege the voices of First Nations Peoples living with stroke  to better understand through story telling in a yarning circle the importance of First Nations ways of knowing, being and doing during stroke recovery.

Yarning will centre around the sharing of knowledge and First Nations People's lived experience of stroke and working with stroke.

Workshop leaders will support an environment which seeks to help participants understand the need to reflect on their own identity, personal biases, cultural humility, and the importance of forming trusted relationships.

We hope that workshop participants will gain more knowledge regarding how they can better provide culturally safe care when working with First Nations Peoples and their communities in health care settings and research projects.
